Damage Counter
Version: 1.9r6
by: adelea [More]
Tracks your outgoing damage.

Shows all the abilities that do damage, how often they get used, how often they crit, how much damage they do.

Also tracks min/max damage on normal and crit hits.

Useful for trying out rotations - that big hitting ability may not fire as much as you would like, maybe it needs moving in a macro ?

Tracks damage per role.

You can move it around by dragging the title bar, and you can reset the stats on the current role by right clicking the title bar.

Right clicking the icon on the titlebar will toggle display of the display frame.

If you left-click and hold on the icon, and then right click, it will undock the icon from the display and allow it to be moved. Repeating this process will redock the icon to the display.

One thing it isnt, is a DPS meter. It tracks total damage done by source of damage.

1.8r1 should fix this.

Thanks for adding that... very useful info, but as you said, it took up a lot of screen

I've been thinking about this myself, since it can take up a bit of screen real estate after its been running a while!
1.7r6 Allows you to do this.

There is a new icon on the top of the frame. Right click it will toggle display of the rest of the window.

Right clicking whilst holding down the left button, will toggle the docking of the icon to the frame - if it is undocked, you can move it around on screen to somewhere more useful.

That pretty much sums up the use for this add-on, at least in my opinion.
Yes, thats pretty much it!

I found I was going to ACT and looking at the summary for all fights to determine which abilities were actually being used, rather than those that just happened to be in a macro.

I get that, I just have a hard time seeing it... and I think it'd be easier if there were some kind of image that showed it to me.

I can't help it that I can't read it, and it hurts my eyes. I'm not saying you did a bad job, and I'm not saying I don't like it. I'm just giving my opinion and asking for a change, the worst that could happen is you'd say No, and that's not the end of the world. I would have never known if you could or would, if I hadn't asked.

Others may be able to understand it just fine, but I'm not others (this sentence wasn't a reply to you, but to someone else).

I'm still trying to determine, what I'd use this for.

Is it meant to help me decide which abilities to use and in what order to use them for the best possible output damage and crit?

If so, I can see where images would be viable to people with a mind like mine, by having the numbers with the image, but not on the image. For example, there is a DPS meter around (but I know this isn't meant to be a DPS meter, just using as an example) that has an image, kind of like a radar, with the % and other way of presenting the numbers, along with it. It would be easier for me to grasp this, if it had something like that. But I'm not asking you to make it into a DPS meter at all.

Does that make any sense?

The different columns dont really relate to one another - I cannot see what could be represented graphically.

What the columns means:

Ability - Name of the ability doing damage

#/XXXX - How many times this ability has triggered (out of XXXX total attacks). The percentage is the number of this attack out of all attacks.

#Crit (XXXX) - How many times this ability has crit, out of XXXX total crits. The percentage is the number of times this attack has crit out of all the attacks from this ability.

Total : XXXXXX - Total damage for the ability - percentage is how much of your total damage came from this ability.

Damage / CritDamage - These two columns represent the min/max that this ability has hit for, either a non-crit or crit attack.

Ummm... did you even look at the headers of each column? They are EXTREMELY self explanatory.

I believe this add-on's purpose is to examine your abilities in detail AFTER an extended period of time, not to become a DPS meter.

How do you mean? By its very nature, the numbers are what is useful/important.

You shouldnt need to. I think your Settings had become corrupted somehow, so there wasnt everything there that needed to be, so clearing it out and starting over allowed all the elements to create properly.

Spoke to soon! Had this error myself this morning.

Tracked it down to a function in the API not returning any values when logging in from the character select screen - so added a small delay, and now it seems to work in 1.7r4
