Re: quick fix

Hey FS2K.

Yep everything works except the action bar 1. We have to wait until the devs do something.

As for the .toc, that file was there since the release. At least for me.

You can bump the environment in the .toc file to 3.0.

Here's the default code:

Code:
Identifier = "Gadgets_Images"

Name = "Gadgets_Images"

Description = {
  English =
  [[
Simple Gadget to load static images and position/scale them on-screen.

This addon requires the prior install of the Gadgets addon.

Have fun!

Environment = "3.0"

RunOnStartup =
{
	"Gadgets_Images.lua"
}

SavedVariables =
{
	Gadgets_Images_Prefs = "character"
}

Dependencies =
{
	Gadgets = {"required", "before"},
}
Cheers,

quick fix

As far as the images not staying behind the default UI, I believe this is because most of the default is hard coded to be the background, especially action bar 1 (try moving it around your screen, it goes behind every other element). I don't think this is 'fixable', at least not now. Maybe someday in the future the Devs will allow action bar mods and we can finally rid ourselves of a major eyesore.

For me, I recently just discovered gadgets and this mod, and I couldnt even get the mod to load. Found out it was just missing a .toc file. Created my own, and here's how:

Open up your rift addon directory, go into 'Gadget_Images', and create a file called 'RiftAddon.toc'. Paste the following into it, save, should be gtg! *note* if you're in the game when you do this, you will need to completely exit game and relog to register the .toc file with Rift. Once in game, right click gadget icon, add gadget, should see 'Image Loader' on the left side column, enjoy!:

Identifier = "Gadgets_Images"
Name = "Gadgets_Images"
Description = "Adds Diablo-like Gargoyle Image to Unit Frame"
Author = "NerfedWar"
Version = "1.0.1"
Email = "[email protected]"
Environment = "2.8"

RunOnStartup = {
"Gadgets_Images.lua",
}

SavedVariables = {
imgs_saved_vars = 'character',
}

Dependencies = { Gadgets = {"required", "before"}, }

I would like to see someone pick this up. I am not able to understand LUA. I have tried for years to learn it, and all it does it make me go coocoo for 20 minutes... my mind is not very strong I guess. So I cannot do it.

If it helps, I'll donate to whoever picks it up. Currently it still works, but I've noticed after testing for a while that there is an annoying bug that goes on and seems to persist the longer you use the addon. What happens is, if I create my own image and put it in the UI, and put it behind the actionbars, it doesn't stay behind - after a while it will just randomly show on top. It also does this to other gadgets addons, and features... which I don't want it to do. I don't know how to change it so it doesn't dot hat. That, and sometimes the error that pops up in chat box is all that's wrong with this - the error isn't major and I can ignore it - but it will only get worse after several patches.

Please, someone pick this up!

After some time ( a year now ) I'll ask again: Will there be an update or is this addon dead?

Same here with the Layer option. Can't get the image behind the actionbars etc. Tried everything... 0, -1, -999999 but nothing helps.

Hi.

Thank you very much for this addon! I love that I can make my own actionbar at bottom

Only one problem I'm having, and it's a big one to be honest.

Everytime I interact with other gadgets like raid frames or buffbar, all the images I've added, gets in front of the default Rift UI!

I hope so much you'd be able to fix that issue. I have the image layer on -100 as it is on default.

Removed the scaling option. Images can now be scaled by dragging the bottom right corner.

Nice one!

Really nicely done Nerfed. I just installed this to check it'll work with the next release of the library (which it does, so I haven't managed to break backwards compatibility yet )

I'll be knocking up some backgrounds for my own UI to use with this.

Gonna try to PM you now with some info on the next release...
