Combat Alerts
Version: 0.02
by: TimeBomb [More]
What is it?
Combat Alerts is an addon designed to keep combat exciting and informative.

With Combat Alerts, you will get a message, or alert, up on your screen whenever you contribute to a kill, or an enemy contributes to your kill. For an example, take a look at the provided screenshots.

More Info
Combat Alerts is very customizable and flexible.
Users have the ability to modify all text, as well as variables that decide which alert shows up when. These modifications can then be saved in account-wide profiles, and easily loaded onto any other character on your account.

Combat Alerts provides different font options as well - there is something to fit everyone's taste. (See examples of all different fonts in the provided screenshots.)

Combat Alerts is based heavily on Book of the Fallen.
Combat Alerts defaults to Book of the Fallen's settings. Book of the Fallen's original text is also available via the preset botftext, accessible via /calerts loadpreset botftext.

Combat Alerts allows you to choose if you want to show alerts only in PvP, only in PvE(boss fights only, similar to Book of the Fallen), or both.

Combat Alerts has numerous preset configurations as well, to help you get started.

I have written up a full documentation of all commands, as some of them are not very simple.
This documentation is also available in DOCUMENTATION.TXT in the combatalert addon folder.

/calerts mode {all/pvp/pve}
all - Will show alerts for both PvP and PvE encounters
pvp - Will only show alerts for PvP encounters.
pve - Will only show alerts for PvE encounters.
Note 1: Enemy/death alerts will always be shown, no matter the mode.

/calerts modify {damageratio/healratio/distractratio/assist} value
Allows you to modify the damage ratio, heal ratio, distract ratio, and assist time window.
damageratio - The damage ratio is a percent in decimal format. So, for example, 0.55 is the value, and it represents 55%. If damageratio is 0.55, then you need to do at least 55% of the damage to get credit (and thus see an alert).
distractratio - The distract ratio is a percent in decimal format. So, for example, 0.42 is the value, and it represents 42%. If distractratio is 0.42, then you need to have taken at least 42% of the damage from the now dead enemy to get credit (and thus see an alert).
healratio - The heal ratio is a percent in decimal format. So, for example, 0.3 is the value, and it represents 30%. If healratio is 0.3, then you need to have healed an ally who has killed the now dead enemy 30% of the damage that the ally has taken to get credit (and thus see an alert).
assist - The assist, short for assist time window, is a number that represents seconds. So, 6 is the value, and it represents 6 seconds. All damage done and alerts shown are only applied for the last X seconds of the match (before the enemy died), where X is assist.
Note 1: These values apply both to allies and enemies.
Note 2: Modifying any value here will change your configurations but not your profile. To save these values to your profile, use /calerts saveprofile ProfileName

/calerts {loadprofile/saveprofile/deleteprofile} value
Profiles hold the damage ratio, the distract ratio, the heal ratio, and the assist ratio.
loadprofile - Will load the specified profile.
saveprofile - Will save your current settings to a profile. Can be loaded account-wide.
deleteprofile - Will delete the specified profile.
Note: saveprofile will overwrite an already existing profile without warning you.

/calerts defaults
Will set damageratio, healratio, distractratio, and assist values back to default.
Note: Using this command will change your configurations but not your profile. To save these values to your profile, use /calerts saveprofile ProfileName

/calerts modifytext {title/message} {victory/death} {solokill/killingblow/damageassist/distractassist/healassist} value
Allows you to modify each and every alert string.
title/message - Specifies if you want to modify the title text or the message text.
victory/death - Specifies if you want to modify the text for a victory (i.e. allies), or a death (i.e. enemy).
solokill/killingblow/damageassist/distractassist/healassist - Specifies exactly which message to modify.
value - The new text. Do note that {1} represents the name in all messages. In messages with two names, {1} is the first name and {2} is the second name.
Note: Modifying any text here will change your configurations but not your text profile. To save these values to your text profile, use /calerts savetextprofile TextProfileName

/calerts {loadtextprofile/savetextprofile/deletetextprofile} value
Text Profiles hold all text (titles and messages) for alerts.
loadtextprofile - Will load the specified text profile.
savetextprofile - Will save your current text settings to a profile. Can be loaded account-wide.
deletetextprofile - Will delete the specified text profile.
Note: savetextprofile will overwrite an already existing text profile without warning you.

/calerts defaulttext
Will set all alert text back to the defaults.
Note: Using this command will change your configurations but not your text profile. To save these values to your text profile, use /calerts savetextprofile TextProfileName

/calerts extendedalerts {on/off}
Will turn Extended Alerts on or off.
When Extended Alerts is on, all alerts (except solo kill) will show the top priority alert in the center of your screen, and all other alerts in your chat window. The priority is usually killing blow -> heal assist -> damage assist -> distract assist.
Extended Alerts is off by default.

/calerts loadpreset {pvpconfig/pveconfig/altconfig/botftext}
Will load preset data into your configurations. Will not alter profiles. To save these values, use the /calerts saveprofile and /calerts savetextprofile commands.
pvpconfig - Preset profile data for PvP. Will set mode to PvP only, damage ratio to 39%, healing ratio to 40%, distract ratio to 50%, and the assist time window to 8 seconds.
pveconfig - Preset profile data for PvE. Will set mode to PvE only, damage ratio to 35%, healing ratio to 50%, distract ratio to 51%, and the assist time window to 15 seconds.
altconfig - Preset profile data, provided as an alternate to default. Will set mode to All(PvP and PvE), damage ratio to 30%, healing ratio to 33%, distract ratio to 40%, and the assist time window to 12 seconds.
botftext - Preset text profile data. Will set all alert text to the old Book of the Fallen defaults.

/calerts setfont {title/message} {1/2/3}
Will change the title or message font.
title/message - Specify whether you want to change the font for the title or the message.
1/2/3 - Specify which font you want to use. There are 3 different fonts for the title, and 3 different fonts for the message. Try them out, and see what you like.
Note: You must relog or type /reloadui for the font change to take affect.

/calerts kbonly {on/off}
Will turn Killing Blow Only mode on or off.
When Killing Blow Only mode is on, it will only show alerts for when you get the killing blow on an enemy. All other alerts - including death alerts - will not be shown.

/calerts help
Will show a list of all Combat Alerts commands.

Hey all, V0.02 is out and should be available for download very soon (probably by the time you read this).

I have attempted a fix for odd/wrong names being displayed when you kill an enemy. Please tell me if you are still having issues with names being wrong.
Do note that seeing "Unknown enemy" as the name is intended, and will only happen if it absolutely can not find the name.

Due to limitations to the addon API, a monster can not be detected as whether it is elite or not. Therefore, I have made PvE and All mode show all monster kills, even normal monsters.

I have added a new feature. Killing Blow only mode, togglable via /calerts kbonly {on/off}. This will make Combat Alerts only show killing blow alerts. All other alerts and your death [enemy kills you] alerts will not be shown.
This works with the mode setting.
(Do note that all solo kills will be displayed as killing blows with this setting on.)

well /mode pvp isnt a command but the message and graphic were not going off when I was killing bosses in dungeons. I did this raid rift today and the massage started working on all the small mobs within the raid rift then after that it started working in pvp. Im not sure what did it, I didnt change anything but it works now.

I see. So the alerts just aren't activating for you when you kill people.
Try typing /calerts mode pvp
That will tell the addon to only show alerts when you kill other players (or when you die). This works in a duel, as well. Tell me if that helps at all. I'm still looking into this issue.

So the graphic shows when using debugalert and when you die, but not when you kill players[and I assume boss mobs]? Alrighty, I'll look more into this bug soon.

One more question for the time being - the only message that shows only in the chat box but not as an alert is when enemy A heals enemy B, and enemy B kills you. Are there other alerts showing in chat but not as a graphical alert?

Can you type this command:
Quote:
/calerts debugalert solokill true Tester
It will force an alert saying that you have single-handedly demolished Tester. It should show up in the chat box and your screen.

Report back your results, thanks.

By default, it should show your kills [and assisted kills] if you kill a player or if you kill a boss mob. As per BoTF's settings, non-boss monsters are not shown.
I may change this functionality depending on user feedback.

/calerts mode all
/calerts mode pvp
/calerts mode pve

PvP is players only. PvE is bosses only. All is both.

Thanks for picking this up as well

Also: Does NerfedWar plan to contnue workin on BOTF or are you taking over where he plans to let off? I've been waiting for Knothineenemy for a while now, hate to see that not happn =(
This does not track anything. I will not be taking over KnowThineEnemy. I will not be taking over BOTF. NerfedWar is back and working on BOTF. I don't currently know his status with KnowThineEnemy.
CombatAlerts integrates seamlessly with BOTF. Just use Combat Alerts and disable alerts on BOTF.
Ah ok awesome, I may use both then to keep the tracking but have my own neat little sayings. Thanks for this.
