Quick Cooldowns
Version: 0.3
by: TimeBomb [More]
Quick Cooldowns makes it easy to show the cooldown of any ability on top of anything on your UI - even on top of your action bars.

Quick Cooldowns is easy to configure.
To access the configuration screen, simply type /quickcd.
As you can see in the example image, you can add/delete 'alerts'(cooldown numbers) easily. You can modify the ability name, the size of the numbers, and the color of the numbers.

Note: Because of RIFT's current API limitations, Quick Cooldowns can not currently detect the abilities on your action bars, nor can it automatically place the numbers on top of your action bars. These have to be set manually by you - but Quick Cooldowns makes this a painless process.

You can then use the Move button to easily click and drag where you want the numbers to show up. Do note that, by default, the numbers will pop up in the top left of your screen.
Just click and drag to move the numbers.
When you are done placing it, you can either click the Move button again or right click the numbers. Do note that you still need to save it. (You can also press the Save button to automatically set and save the new position.)

Quick Cooldowns supports multiple roles. When you change roles, the alerts will automatically change to your different role's set of alerts. (Thankfully, this addon won't have to be updated just to implement support for any new roles that may come out.)
Alerts are saved character-wide.

Remember: You need to set your global cooldown.
This is easy to do. Just open up the Quick Cooldowns configuration screen, and in the bottom right area, you will be able to choose 1.5s or 1.0s GCD from the drop down menu. (1.5s is default.) Once you select it, it will automatically update for your whole character.
V0.3
- FIXED: Cooldown numbers on top of abilities make the abilities difficult to click.
- FIXED: Not properly handling disposal of cooldown frames (as to avoid memory leaks).
- /quickcd reset will now reset all your configurations back to default. This will NOT mess with your alerts; they will remain intact.
- Add entire addon enable/disable configuration
- When pressing the Move button, the shown alert will take the settings from the unsaved configuration window, rather than the saved alert.

V0.2
- FIXED: Some of the configuration UI overlaps each other, making things difficult to see or click.
- FIXED: GCD conflicts with on-cooldown abilities sometimes. Causes odd CD numbers.
- FIXED: You can move more than one alert at a time. This is unintended and could cause issues.
- FIXED: If you are still in the Ability Name text box when closing the configuration window, it may bug out.
- Better alignment of 1-digit cooldowns.
- Some wording changed to make modifying alerts less confusing.

FYI - I am eagerly awaiting feedback and bug reports.

V0.1
Initial release

Known Bugs:
- If you are still in the Ability Name text box when closing the configuration window, it may bug out. Just quick on the edge of your screen (i.e. outside of the area where the window was) to fix this. I'll be fixing this ASAP.
- Some of the configuration UI overlaps eachother, making things difficult to see or click. This will be fixed up soon.
- You can move more than one alert at a time. This is unintended and could cause issues, and will be fixed soon.
- GCD conflcits with on-cooldown abilities sometimes. Causes odd CD numbers. Will be fixed ASAP.

Coming Soon:
- Adding a 'maximum allowed cooldown seconds' setting. Cooldown alerts wouldn't show up unless they were the 'maximum allowed cooldown seconds' setting left remaining to cooldown or lower.
- Make (new) 'maxmium allowed cooldown seconds' and GCD role-wide settings (instead of character-wide).
- Better alignment of 1-digit cooldowns.

When I type in an ability to monitor and press add, it just adds the word 'Alert' and nothing else.

I would say this is an alpha addon at the most.

Clicking "Add" adds a new empty alert.
Clicking "Save" saves all the info on the right of the config window into the selected alert.

I apologize for the confusion. I'll rename "Add" to "New" and "Save" to "Save Current Alert" to help lessen the confusion.

OK, I see what you're saying. I will test it again tonight.

Thanks for the update.

I tried again and could save the cooldown. But when I start combat no icons appear and the cooldowns are not monitored.

Nice addon, very helpful.

One thing that bugs me though is that if I click on the actual text frame from this addon it wont activate the skill behind it that I am trying to use.

So if you can make it so that the text frames can be clicked through that would be great.

Hmm, I see how this could be an issue. From what I understand, this is a limitation of the API - addon frames not being click-throughable. I'll inquire about this to the developer in charge of the addon API.

I'm going to need more info, i.e. what the alert configurations are set to.
By default, the alert is in the corner of your screen. The text is pretty small and it is black colored. This can be quite difficult to see. Make sure you use the Move functionality to move the alert where you want it, where it is visible.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding the purpose of the add-on. I assumed that it would display the icon with the cooldown count rendered in or around it somewhere.

I did see the black numbers and moved them but a countdown of numbers for a skill cooldown is not particularly useful. There are add-ons out there (Karuul Alert and nkRebuff) that have cooldown monitoring and I assumed this would offer similar functionality.

I thought that after using, say for example, Strafe I would see the Strafe icon rendered by your add-on with a countdown on it.

Yes Bard, I do think you misunderstood the basis of this addon. It shows only the numbers - nothing else. While they are meant to be overlayed onto abilities, they can be overlayed onto just about anything.
I'll add 'backgrounds' to my to-do list, and allow the actual ability background to optionally be used.

In terms of cooldown numbers making it difficult to click abilities: This is a bug, and I will have a fix in the next version.

One thing I would like to see here is the ability to show Seconds only.

So on a 2 minute CD I would see it start at 120 and go down, instead of the 1m.

Just a personal preference, but it also simplifies positioning since the numbers are the same width, where as the m is wider than any number.

Thanks for your feedback. I've added this to my to-do list.
