Grid Snapping

Typing "/gadgets grid 8" for example, will snap all movement and resizes to an 8 pixel grid.
Type "/gadgets grid" with no number to reset snapping.


Quick Start



You will see a round button with a Gear icon in the middle of your screen. Drag this button to where you want it by left clicking and dragging.

Right click on the button and choose 'Add Gadget' to add a gadget to your screen.

Left clicking on the button will unlock (and re-lock) all of your gadgets. When unlocked, Gadgets can be moved by dragging their movement handles (the white gear icon at the top corner of each gadget).

To alter an existing gadget, right click on it's movement handle while gadgets are unlocked, and choose 'Modify Gadget'.

When moving gadgets around on the screen, you can align them to another gadget by dragging the move handle over the top of another move handle. The gadget you are dragging will align itself either horizontally or vertically with it. If you move the gadget too far from the horizontal or vertical axes, alignment mode will turn off (it should hopefully become clear when you try it!).

Macros

The raid and group frames allow you to specify macros for various mouse buttons and the mouse wheel. These are standard RIFT macros, with a couple of extra Gadgets features:

Use @unit to refer to the unit the frame is showing. For example "cast @unit Healing Breath".

Use modifer it you want:

Wildtide, first off I am really enjoying this addon, great work! I was wondering if you would be able to allow for text resizing on the cast bar gadgets? Many spells have terribly long names and unless you run the bars very large the spell name will overwrite the cast time remaining.

Also the formatting would be awesome if it just showed a count down like this

Healing Invocation [1.05]

rather than the longer

Healing Invocation 3.0/3.0s

which makes it harder to distinguish the text from the cast itself (I think the mind tends to blend it as one long run-on).

It's a lot to ask for I'm sure but if I could get that as an option I would be able to use this gadget and will donate $20 your way (nothing like a little bribe! heh). I hope everyone else is supporting your effort in this regard!

Well the artwork is actually from moulin Artwork for Swords (Skulls) which made it work for the addon Swords. I only made it compatible with the combopoint gadget .

Hehe, oops. The raid frame itself isn't resizable, but the Raid Frames gadget is. Bit of an oversight there.

Saying that, it's odd that the shadows resize and not the text, they were copy/pastes of each other. Looking at it now, hopefully be able to get a quick fix in before too many people download it.

Edit: Got to the bottom of it, it was actually a bug in the font scaling code. Sorted in the latest version.

Loving the new raid frames. Except that when I resize them the shadow is resizing, but the white part of the name is not. It looks very odd with a tiny name in white and a giant grey shadow of the letters behind it lol.

I've had a quick look, and I think I know what's caused the problem. Should be a fairly quick fix; I'll hopefully have a new version out later on tonight with this fixed.

It seems like the combopoints gadget isnt working properly. I get the red swords as images and they don't dissapear when i deselect my target (if i still have cp on them).

I should get the skulls since i changed the img when the calling is a rogue. You can see it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFSZ6XzGNJY

Yep, right clicking buffs to remove should definitely be made an option. I wouldn't want to have it always enabled, as it could be confusing on things like the raid frames where it's a tiny embedded icon (people could end up cancelling buffs when they meant to just open the unit menu).

Wildtide,

First, love the upside down unit frames- EXACTLY what I was looking for and more, the way the buffs/debuffs split on the unit frames is excellent. Huge thanks for upward stacking buffs

One thing I have noticed is that the buffs are not interactive; I can't right-click them off. Is this a forthcoming feature, or an unintended bug?

Again, I can't stress how much I'm impressed with this add-on with each update to the functionality. I get the sense that six months from now, damn near all my UI frames will be coupled with this add-on!

I'm not sure when you disabled everything, but there's a good chance it may have been related to the following from the last patch notes:

* Fix performance issues with frequent calling of Inspect.Unit.Castbar()

1.9 completely broke castbars, pushing CPU up to silly levels. It might be worth trying your addons again, and seeing if it's been fixed since.

Of course, if it's still happening, I'll have to do some investigating and talk to Zorba (Trion) about it, but I'm not currently aware of any massive performance issues.

Just wanted to give you a heads up. I had to disable most addons that read during combat (for things like buffs, hp, mana... anything that changes during combat on a mass scale, like raids or in Conquest or WF). Addon CPU usage was skyrocketting to over 60% in some situations and reducing my FPS to under 10 (from my normal 35 - 70 fps, and typical 25 to 35 in combat on raids).

I assume this has something to do with the new watchdog crap Trion added, muddying the back-end and making performance horrible.

So as of right now I can't use Gadgets, and this sucks. I know it's not YOUR fault, as your addon never had issues pre-1.9. However, since 1.9 this + kbm + myUI (for buff bars) = horrible, horrible performance. Disabling 1 or 2 helped, but disabling all 3 put me back to normal.

I now raid (even Laethys) with 1 addon enabled: nkWardrobe... which does nothing but disable itself during combat.

This makes me sad.

Does your new version have any tweaks to speed itself up? Workarounds to fool the watchdog? Something to keep addon CPU down to the normal 5 to 6% it USED to hover at during combat?
