Small but needed changes coming to Options.
Hi all,
As some of you may know I spend a good amount of time searching for videos of KBM in action to better gauge how people are using it, and monitor its performance to ensure it's working as I intended. A common trend I'm seeing is that Anchors are never being turned off and thus litter the screen (I'm fairly sure this isn't what you the player had in mind, it certainly wasn't my intention). So, with this, I'm changing how anchors and the layout process works slightly. What will change? Well, from 0.8.2, anchors will only ever appear while the options page is open, and will never be visible during an encounter. In 0.8.3 this will be further improved with the options screen becoming barely visible if you move your mouse over an anchor. Also in 0.8.2 and 0.8.3, by default, when you click on an encounters menu option, all available features for that encounter will become visible and unlocked (for positioning only). You'll still have to unlock sizing options manually due to how these work. I hope these changes allow for easier "out-of-the-box" setup and less confusion when cross-language support is lacking. Any feedback on this upcoming change is more than welcome.

0.8.3 Development News
Due for the next version later this week are:
Full support for River of Souls (Ros) encounter. I'll be finishing off Warmaster, and adding the remaining bosses. This will mean as of 0.8.3, KBM will be fully supporting all current 20 man content in Rift. More bosses in Hammerknell (HK) will get access to the Cast Filtering options to allow you to filter out and color code casts. Rise of the Phoenix (RotP) gets revisited. I'll be implementing General Silgen and taking a look at what can be done with Priest. The problem with Priest at the moment is he's the only boss I'm aware of which drops the raid OUT of combat during an active encounter. This provides me with all sorts of inconsistency issues I'd have to "special case" for in order to get it working (KBM uses a unique and complex Combat tracking method to track encounters), I'll also look at adding the Earth Elemental mini-bosses if people feel this would enhance their gaming. Some tweaks to the general friendliness of settings including all elements only being shown if enabled for any given encounter. This means that the Rune King Molinar monitor is now only visible during the encounter if it is enabled, or if the encounter's option page is visible and the monitor is set to be shown and is enabled. Some fixes are in place for Alert settings totally being ignored by the alert engine until a /reloadui or restart. This was due to how the alerts are now seen by the engine after the changes to how anchors are displayed. Also, there are improvements to combat state tracking for the raid. This will hopefully cut down on the false endings and premature encounter starts which could sometimes happen. This is still being worked on as there are some consistency issues with regards to the Rift API which I need to account for (and find).

You can then move the pointer over either of the two visible borders and move the mouse wheel back and forward to adjust the flash size. See, I didn't forget.. although I may have forgotten to tell anyone about it |

Pushed out 0.8.3 early today as there were some minor fixes and glitches I wanted to address before EU Raiding times tonight.

0.8.7 is a minor error fix for a couple of bosses in GSB. Included is a tweak to the Raid Manager system which should provide more accurate combat state monitor for all encounters.
The Raid Manager will gain further accuracy improvements as more of the API is opened up. |

Mistress of the Rift buff notification on Estrode seems to be bugged, as well as the first timer (every subsequent one after the first one seems to be fine) for Soulrender's Grasp on the Zilas fight.

That said though, Mistress of the Rift is using a new trigger which hasn't been tested the most, so it's entirely probable it's misbehaving. As for Soulrender Zilas, there shouldn't be a timer for the first grasp. It happens at exactly 60% (the first one) so to time it would require some sort of projected dps timer, which as Windows has proved, is less than helpful. Unless you mean the first actual timer after 60% (the timer which starts the first time it triggers), in which case I'd have to check it out next lockout when we do him again to understand entirely what's going on. Lastly, I'm not sure what you mean by bugged. Is it throwing error messages or is it just not behaving as expected? Times could easily be thrown out due to unexpected changes in what a boss does. There's a horrid amount of RNG involved in Trion's boss fights. Thanks for the feedback. I solo write, test and design this Addon, so any help from the raiders who use it is greatly appreciated |

According to a guildie, the Soulrender's Grasp timer starts at 80% and then the first laser occurs 1 minute after that. Might have been why I thoguht it was bugged because with the DPS we have now the first laser occurs around 50%. I am almost positive the first laser didn't occur exactly at 60%.

As for Soulrender, that fight's mechanics have changed so many times it hurts. I'm tempted to dump the 60% phase change thing in favor of just alerting the first and timing that after. Unless it is exactly a minute after 80% now then I'll just stick a 60s timer in @ 80 and change the phase order. I don't doubt you, but I would like to clarify it after lockout to ensure it's consistent across every raid. (I'll be researching the latest Youtube Zilas kills again to time them accurately). Expect 0.8.8 shortly since there are some further tweaks I need to make to the engine regardless, and once again thanks for the feedback. |

I can't say for certain you'd have to do some testing next reset -- but I can guarantee that the first laser we got was NOT at 60%. For just a little bit more help for reset tomorrow (wednesday) this youtube video seems to indicate that he does a laser 2 minutes into the fight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FtB53kiZmE With their DPS they have him at around 58% when he does first emote. Hope this allows you to narrow your timers a bit more

I've watched a good collection of reliable videos on YouTube now with this specific mechanic as the key focus, and from my data collected it would appear that the first emote for the laser appears at 42 seconds after 70%. All other factors vary too much to be of any use. So, I'll add this in for the next release and we can go from there, but I feel it'll be as close as possible for a first occurrence timer. I'll also be going over the buffRemoved trigger to ensure that's behaving a little better. It maybe a case of Mistress and Rage of the North can both be applied at the same time so the two alerts could overlap in someway. Baring this in mind, it maybe more beneficial to just have a 2s static alert for each when they're applied as apposed to the duration they're on as this would be more useful in a raid. I'm adding a new monitor for certain fights which will display only important mechanic based buffs on bosses. This will possibly appear around v0.9.0, but should help in keeping an eye on important buffs. |
