Rusty's Action Bars  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 3.0.4
by: Rustytotem [More]
This is a fairly basic action bar addon.

The slash commands are "/rab" and "/rustactionbars".

You can create an arbitrary number of rectangular action bars with an arbitrary number of buttons on them.
You can drag abilities and items onto the buttons. Clicking on them activates them.
Right clicking or dragging an icon removes it from the bar.

You can drag a frame by left-click dragging the green button at the top-left of the frame.
You can delete a frame by clicking the red button at the top-left of the frame, and then clicking "Delete" on the prompt.

Bars can be edited through a GUI configuration screen.

Type "/rab" without the quotation marks for a list of commands.

If you have a slow computer, and find that this addon has too much of an impact on performance (mouse over the computer icon on menu bar), you can increase the cooldown update timer period. The default value is 0.1. This is measured in seconds.

Folder name

Zuiq, do any of your bars/buttons save, or is it only rarely that they don't?

Also, what was the folder name you copied into your rift addon folder?

Crafting icons

Hi.

I'm not really sure of how to get the crafting window shortcut buttons working - similar to macros, while they're in the cursor (when dragging them on to bars), the cursor API doesn't report anything.

Have you ever encountered other addons not saving? I'll put out a minor update in a few minutes which may or may not alleviate the not-saving issue.

Nice addon, run into a slight issue though. I'm unable to put my general skills on to the bar, would be nice to have my crafting icons organised in a cube rather than a large line :P.

I have also run into the bug where it seems to delete the skills and bars on /reloadui, although my bars aren't right next to gadgets stuff.

Currently running: BananAH, Gadgets, Imhothar's Bags, Karuul's Alerting System, KBM, Quest Finder, RareDar, RABC Roles and this.

The only things I can think of would be either and addon conflict, as you mentioned, or a write permission issue on the folder/files that Rift saves data in (but I can't imagine that being it).

For reference, I have BananAH, EasyMail, Gadgets, Gadget Buffs, RiftActionBarCooldowns, RiftMeter, and this addon, and it works.

The compilation looks quite good.
I was able to reproduce it again, by moving the action bar frame up a little more, overlapping a little bit of the data text bar from Gadgets. I personally think that it's caused by interacting with that panel from gadgets. If I don't put it near it, it doesn't seem to be a problem. I think I just had it too close. I could be wrong, but I don't think I am.

I have all those add-ons you have except RABC, and RiftMeter. I have other little plugins to Gadgets that go with it too. All the add-ons I have except for the plugins to Gadgets (I forgot to mention) are included on the description of my layout compilation here.

I wanted to update you again. I kept on using it anyway after that, and the problem hasn't occurred again. I was able to use the reloadui button or /reloadui and it no longer happens. So I think it's very minor for it to happen and not really anything worth fixing. Especially since how easy it is to create a new one, and drag and drop your icons on it again.

I also wanted to let you know that I included it in my UI here called RussallUI. Since I really like it and use it in my layout I created. I basically replace everything that can be replaced. Everything used in it, belongs to other addons here, and in your addon. Nothing is mine, except for the compilation which is all it is, is a compilation of addons to make a layout. But only the WoW site has compilations section, so I put it in the layout section like everyone does.

I'm actually not sure if keybinds are possible at all - I couldn't see any api function or anything.
(Edit: I should probably mention, I'd like to make this addon a bit more usable and fleshed-out, but, 1) It would take time and effort, and I'm a bit lazy, 2) I don't really play Rift at the moment, 3) The functionality available to addons in Rift seems much more limited than, say, WoW.)
That's understandable. I play both RIFT and WoW currently. Though I only came back to WoW for WoD expansion. I want to see what it's like. If it's good, I'll keep playing - if not, I'll cancel again. I just really like the setup and easy arrangeable Edit Layout in RIFT.

Yes it does it for both for me. Not sure why it doesn't for you. Maybe some kind of conflict with one of the other add-ons I have? I only have a few others. Not really a lot. If you'd like I could share with you which ones I am using, and you could investigate?

Sorry, if I knew the code I could help investigate bugs and help you squash them, and help you flesh this out. But unfortunately, I can't learn the code. The last time I tried, my mind literally went nutso-crazy for 20 minutes and I don't remember what I said, or what I did - but I scared people. They said my emotions switched from laughing happy, depressed sad crying, and incoherent babbling. I can see how that's scary. So I just don't try anymore. I can design anything though, always have been able to. I use to do it professionally, but the deadlines took the fun out of it so I quit doing it for money.

If they aren't available, maybe it's something you plan on making available eventually. I mean it is still in Alpha so I would understand if the features aren't there. I hope eventually we could have an in game GUI to access that is decent to look at, kind of like what Gadgets or Imhothar's Bags has and hopefully some toggles and tweaks we can set in there, and change how it looks from in there.

Thanks for this great addon!

Thank you. I'll let you know how it goes as soon as it's been approved, and I get back to the computer. I just now took a break from a game for a bit. I got RA, so I have to move around for a while, otherwise I'll be hurting too much.

If I find any more problems, or bugs once I get it at least working, then I'll let you know. I have also added this to my favorites so I can track updates, and because it's now my new favorite lol

Nice addon, I like it!

By the way, my first name is Rusty lol

EDIT: I just woke up and didn't really realize what this was. Now I know, it's an action bar addon! The community has been waiting for this! Thank you so much for releasing it!

EDIT 2: I found an error when trying to create an actionbar using /rab create 5 5

Quote:
Error: Rustys_Action_Bars/main.lua:123: attempt to index a nil value
In Rustys_Action_Bars / Rusty's Action Bars, event Event.Slash.rab
stack traceback:
[C]: in function '__index'
Rustys_Action_Bars/main.lua:123: in function 'createBar'
Rustys_Action_Bars/main.lua:533: in function <Rustys_Action_Bars/main.lua:521>
EDIT 3: The same error comes out when using the second command to create an actionbar as well. No action action bars ever get created.
