Guild Event Calendar Addon
 

Hey there, I've been playing Rift for about two months now and find myself in need of an event manager. Mainly it needs to be able to provide an interface for guildies to accept/tentative/decline event invitations for events created by other players. Essentially the calendar system that was implemented in WoW.

I have some programming experience, the Lua manual and the (apparently slightly outdated) API Bible and am ready to get cracking. However, this would be my first add on project...I looked though the API Bible and am not sure if this will work...?

Does Rift use an Add on channel to send/receive add on data between players..? That would be the one thing I need to make this work and just am not sure if its there yet. Any help with this would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

The Bible was written for patch 1.3, and the author never updated sadly. Yes, with 1.8, Rift now has inter-addon communication. The full, official documentation is on the official forums http://forums.riftgame.com/beta-addo...mentation.html

Us volunteer scrubs really need to find the time to update the wiki here at RiftUI, but it is quite daunting when we are so far behind.

I would suggest to bookmark the http://pastebin.com/Ra9pix1k and http://pastebin.com/8n7NbvFJ since these are always kept up to date. I know it is a pain in the... well you know... to stare at that plain text all the time.

Alright, thanks very much for the links and information. I just wanted to make sure this would be possible before jumping in. (Even then I suppose I could just have done the UI for it and waited)

I'll certainly be back with snags I run into as I get this going though...stay tuned lol
