Learn from WoW Lua books?

I was thinking about reading this book to get me started with Lua in RIFT. I've looked at a few other Lua generic books but they seem to be far too broad with my goal in mind... It seems like using those would take me months before getting anything coded in RIFT.

Absolutely. It's a great starting reference. Obviously things will be slightly different from WoW to Rift, but I highly recommend it.

I learned LUA using this book as a base. Back then I did addons for RunesOfMagic. Allthough a lot of things are different, the book is quite good to give you an idea how things work:
